Even though Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained the Indian Premier League title and Rajasthan Royals didn’t even make it to the finals, IPL 2026 will be remembered as a breakthrough year for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as the 15-year-old won the Orange Cap with a record-breaking 776 runs this season.

Buying Sooryavanshi for just Rs 1.10 crore in the mega auction ahead of the previous season was one of the best acquisitions by the Royals.

Even though the teenage tornado was retained for the same amount this year, his histrionics with the bat enabled his actual earnings to increase significantly.

Sooryavanshi was invited to the award event at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and named the season's Most Valuable Player after RCB successfully defended their title by defeating Gujarat Titans in the final.

During the presenting ceremony, he received a number of additional honors as well. The prizes, together with the corresponding cash rewards, were:

- Most Valuable Player (MVP): Rs 15 lakh

- Orange Cap (Tournament Top Scorer): Rs 10 lakh

- Super Striker of the Season: Rs 10 lakh (plus the Tata Sierra)

- Super Sixes of the Season: Rs 10 lakh (for hitting 72 sixes)

- Emerging Player of the Season: Rs 10 lakh

In addition to cash awards and an annual retainer of Rs 1.10 crore, Sooryavanshi received a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakh for each game he played in. He played 16 games for the Royals this season, collecting Rs 1.20 crore from match fees alone.

Through his individual match awards, such as Electric Striker of the Match and Most Sixes of the Match, Sooryavanshi earned Rs 1 lakh each and all that combined made his total IPL 2026 earnings skyrocket to more than Rs 2.50 crore.
