FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team cruised past the Kansas State Wildcats, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

LEE'S THOUGHTS

"I'm so proud of our seniors, today was all about them. For Jade, Isa, and Helena to each get a win on such an emotional match is so gratifying. They have given so much to our program on and off the court", said Head Coach Lee Walker. "It was a true program win and I couldn't be more proud of their commitment to get our team back to this moment where our postseason destiny is right in front of us."

We are still aiming for that Big 12 regular season championship, and NCAA berth, and we have a lot of momentum right now. We need to keep improving and building for two very good teams in Arizona State and Arizona."

THE RUNDOWN

The match started in doubles, where Helena Narmont and Yu Chin-Tsai defeated Veronika Kulhava and Maria Santos on court two, 6-3. It was the senior duo who secured the doubles point for the Horned Frogs, with Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual winning 6-4 on court one to give TCU the 1-0 lead.

In singles, Yu-Chin Tsai defeated Maria Santos via a medical retirement in the second set on court four to extend TCU's lead to 2-0.

Maya Drozd won her fifth completed match in a row, with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court six to move the Frogs to one point away.

However, Kansas State fought back, Maralgoo Chomsomjav defeating Isabel Pascual 6-4, 6-4 to bring the score to 3-1.

After an hour-long delay due to rain and lightning, the match was moved to the indoor courts. Despite the delay, the Frogs remained strong.

Jade Otway clinched the match for TCU, earning her fifth win on court one with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Kansas State's Zhanel Rustemova.

The Frogs improved to 12-7 overall and 7-3 in the Big 12.
