Ruturaj Gaikwad has pulled out of his county stint with Yorkshire due to personal reasons. The Yorkshire county club announced the news of Ruturaj's pullout on Friday (July 18). The former India A captain was set to make his county cricket debut against Surrey on July 22. But the right-handed batsman won't be landing in England now. The exact reason behind Ruturaj's pullout isn't known. Yorkshire's head coach, Anthony McGrath, was disappointed at not having Ruturaj in their ranks.

“Unfortunately Gaikwad’s not coming now for personal reasons. We’re not going to have him for Scarborough or for the rest of the season. So that’s disappointing. I can’t tell you anything about the reasons why, but we hope that everything’s ok. We’ve literally just found out. We’re working behind the scenes on what we can do. But it’s only two or three days away, so I’m not sure what we can do at the moment. We’re working to try and get a possible replacement, but time pressure is the issue. I can’t give you anything more than that at the moment," McGrath said.

"Dom had a little bit of a niggle from the Roses game, and we just took a precaution with him. Jonny’s partner is due to give birth at any time, so we wish him and his family well. For Scarborough, we don’t know about that yet."

Apart from playing five first-class matches, Ruturaj was also slated to participate in List A matches for Yorkshire. But he won't be landing in England. Ruturaj hasn't played a recognised competitive game since April 8. He led Chennai Super Kings in the initial phase of IPL 2025 before getting ruled out due to an elbow injury.

Ruturaj travelled to England with the India A cricket team but didn't play the unofficial Test series. He played the intra-squad match before the start of the five-match Test series.
