Grizzlies' Jackson injured after signing $240M extension

Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. suffered a turf toe injury that will require a procedure to repair, the team announced Tuesday.

Jackson suffered the injury "while participating in a live basketball run offsite," the Grizzlies stated. Further evaluation by doctors showed that he needed surgery to correct the issue.

Memphis won't have a timeline for his return until after the procedure is completed.

The news comes one day after Jackson reportedly agreed to a five-year, $240-million extension with the Grizzlies.

Jackson, 25, averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game as Memphis' starting center in 2024-25. The New Jersey native was named to his third career All-Defensive team after the season.
