League One side Leicester City and Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are both keen on One, Jacobs reports. It is not clarified whether their interest is in a permanent deal or a loan, but the 20-year-old is highly rated at Bramall Lane and under contract until 2029.

One may well earn a chance to fight for a Sheffield United spot over pre-season. But, if he can’t force his way into Chris Wilder‘s plans, he has admirers waiting to snap him up.

How did Ryan One fare in his first loan away from Sheffield United?

One had sampled senior football with Sheffield United and Hamilton Academical before his Lincoln City loan. However, the move to the Imps served as a first chance for him to really announce himself and cement his place in the senior game in England.

The Coatbridge-born striker proved to be a valuable January addition for a title-winning side too. One played 16 times for Lincoln City and managed a more than respectable tally of five goals and one assist.

Michael Skubala, who has since left for Bristol City, utilised One as a striker and out on the wing. His game time out wide adds a new string to his bow and will appeal to bosses who want flexible attackers in the modern game.

One’s appearances were split as seven starts and nine games off the bench. The SUFC talent was able to impact games late and pop up with key contributions as the Imps ended up storming to League One glory.

The Verdict: A new Sheffield United loan exit may be best for Ryan One

One can get chances to impress at Sheffield United in pre-season, and Wilder is a fan. If he can impress, there is a chance he forces his way into the first-team plans at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United’s current striker options

Patrick Bamford (32)

Tyrese Campbell (26)

Tom Cannon (23)

Ryan One (20)

However, One will be better off going out on loan if his SUFC role sees him sat on the bench, patiently waiting and hoping for opportunities. He needs exposure at a senior level, and his Lincoln City stint has shown he is ready to play on a regular basis now.

A return to League One could be ideal. He has already shown his promise at the level, but a full season of starting regularly and notching goals will serve One well in the bid to make it at Sheffield United.
