The German, appointed last month, has won all of his first three league games in charge.Despite defeats to Brann, Celtic, and Roma, Thelwell remains positive about the direction the club is heading. He told RangersTV: "I'm generally very pleased."It's never easy for a head or a manager to come into a situation like Danny [Rohl] has."He's done really, really well."Hom and his staff are really good people."I think we've made a good start."Thelwell believes the team is now moving in the right direction and sees a 'clear difference in the way we're playing at the moment.'The sporting director also spoke about Rohl's plans to add a local coach to his backroom team, someone who is familiar with the Scottish landscape.Thelwell said: "I'd probably say 'Watch this space' and see how that evolves now that we're out of a run of games, which perhaps gives us time to think about those things in a bit more detail."Read more:Archie Goodburn: I'm still chasing my goals in and out of the poolStamping out sectarianism should be next after snuffing out pyroIn addition to this, Thelwell wants to continue promoting Scottish talent at the club.He said: "My philosophy has always been, at many clubs, before you sign somebody, you should probably look to the pitch next door to you first."There's a good reason for that."Number one, players who live in the area and have grown up in the area support the football club."He added that it takes time for young players to develop and used Jarrad Branthwaite from his previous role at Everton as an example. With the January transfer window approaching, Thelwell admitted it has been a turbulent season at Ibrox. He said: "It's a slightly different situation for us in that we've lost a head coach and we've appointed a new head coach in Danny."We're very keen to make sure that he's an integral part of that [transfer] process going forward."Thelwell explained that a big meeting had taken place to discuss Rohl's feelings about the group, what he had learnt about them, and areas they both think can be improved. He said: "Going forwards now, we'll use that information, plus the information from the owners and other sources, to start to plan for January."We do expect to be fairly active."However, he stressed that Rohl will have the final say in these decisions."It is about Danny having the final say in these moments."It very much is about us working together in this instance, and Danny having the final say," Thelwell said.
