Cole Palmer absolutely delighted at transfer business done by Chelsea this summer, 'he's so good'

Any attacker moving to Chelsea will always be aware that they are going to be competing for the limelight with Cole Palmer, however one player is managing to do that right now.

It was not the start to the new season that the England international would have liked, both personally and for the Blues. They were held to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League opener.

Glenn Hoddle was critical of Palmer for a quiet display by his standards, and given how good he was during the Club World Cup there was plenty more expected at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer has even been tipped to win Player of the Year this season, and the newfound quality in the attack at the club should only help his numbers in terms of goals and assists.

Cole Palmer a huge fan of new Chelsea signing Joao Pedro

One player who has been added to the frontline is Joao Pedro, who started up front after making an instant impact in the United States.

Five goals in his first five games saw Pedro labelled a ‘bargain’ signing, despite setting the club back around £60m in the transfer window.

It seems that Chelsea’s key man is a big fan of his new teammate. He has stated that he already has a good chemistry with the Brazilian, and is really enjoying playing with him.

Palmer said: “He’s so good, man. Like, I love playing with him, even in training we just have good chemistry and know where each other is gonna be. It was amazing to see him coming. Obviously, we knew he was a good player before, but to see him actually in person, it’s good.”

Pedro not convincing everyone yet

Despite his great start at the Club World Cup and in the pre-season fixtures, it was not the start to Premier League life Pedro would have wanted.

He cut an isolated figure up front against Palace’s back three, and there were questions asked as to whether Enzo Maresca should have started Liam Delap instead.

Pedro is able to play in multiple roles in attack, and has impressed wherever he has played so far.

In terms of what he will bring to Chelsea though, Gary Neville doesn’t believe Chelsea’s new striking options are enough to compete for the title this season, which is surely the club’s goal after launching a mini title challenge in the first half of the 2024/25 campaign.
