Alexandra Eala saw her 2025 Nottingham Open run come to an end in the round of 32, as she was beaten in straight sets by sixth seed Magda Linette of Poland.

The Filipino tennis player was defeated 6-4, 6-3 on Tuesday, 17 June, succumbing to a triple break that closed out her tournament in Great Britain.

Eala saved four match points on her serve in the opening round of the main draw, but she could not withstand the pressure on the fifth occasion as Linette sealed the break.

Twenty-year-old Eala had to make it through the qualifying rounds at the WTA 250 event, overcoming Varvara Gracheva and Anca Todoni. It was a step too far in the round of 32, coming up against the experienced world number 31.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City star suffers a third main draw defeat of the grass season, having previously played at the nearby Birmingham Open and the Ilkley Open, both in Britain.

The Nottingham Open runs from 16-22 June in the leadup to Wimbledon, which begins on 30 June. Linette will meet either home hope Mingge Xu or Katie Volynets of the USA in the round of 16.
