Rangers are set to launch a stunning move to finally land Lawrence Shankland.

They hope to conclude a deal for the Hearts captain in the next 48 hours.

The Scotland star hit 20 goals across all competitions as the Jambos came within a whisker of lifting a first league title in 66 years, losing out on the last day to Celtic.

Now fans face the possibility of losing their captain and talisman to one of their main rivals, according to the Scottish Sun.

The boyhood Rangers fan was available on a free transfer last summer, but Gers opted not to make him an offer and the 30-year-old penned a new three year deal at Tynecastle.

Boss Danny Rohl has demanded more dressing room leaders in his squad after a post-split collapse from the Light Blues.

Andrew Cavenagh has sanctioned a pro-Scottish signing policy this summer and Shankland could well be the first addition before he jets off to the World Cup with his country.

The American said last week: "We have a pro-Scottish bias in the club today.

“Meaning, if you have two players roughly equal and one is Scottish then we will take the Scottish player.”
