PGMOL make decision on John Brooks after Chelsea vs Leeds United controversy

The PGMOL has stood by John Brooks after his role in the controversial VAR call that allowed Leeds United’s equaliser to stand during the draw at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea just couldn’t get over the line against Leeds United, despite going two goals up. The Blues had countless chances and Cole Palmer missed a sitter in the closing moments.

However, it was largely Chelsea’s own undoing, as Mosies Caicedo gave away a penalty for a foul on Jayden Bogle and Leeds United’s second was a total mix-up.

But the one thing that riled up Chelsea fans about the second goal was an incident where the ball hit Bogle’s arm in the build-up, but it wasn’t penalised by VAR.

Talks have been held since the incident and a resolution has been reached.

John Brooks to still manage Arsenal vs Brentford

John Brooks was the man in the middle for Chelsea’s clash with Leeds United, and he had a good game other than that controversial moment where he missed the handball.

But Premier League Match Centre’s explanation on the night was this.

“The referee’s call of goal to Leeds United was checked and confirmed by VAR – with there deemed to be no handball offence by Bogle in the build-up.”

And according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have been in talks with PGMOL since the incident and agree with the decision that was made on field and by VAR.

It states that the conversation is described as civil, respectful, and as part of maintaining a positive working relationship.

John Brooks is set to referee tomorrow as planned, with it appearing the PGMOL are comfortable with his VAR call.

What Liam Rosenior made of the incident

Liam Rosenior wasn’t best pleased with the decision made by both John Brooks and VAR. He believes that it was a clear handball and that the goal should not have stood.

“The rule in football is that any handball in the build-up should make a goal disallowed, and you saying the handball was non-deliberate just made me even angrier.”

Of course, it doesn’t look deliberate, but the Leeds United player gained an advantage by using his arm so it’s a frustrating situation for Chelsea and Rosenior.
