After slumping to a loss against New Zealand in its opening match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian cricket team will need to regroup quickly for a must-win encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

The IND-W vs PAK-W T20 World Cup 2024 match starts at 3:30 PM IST and will be available to watch on live streaming and telecast in India.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. were found wanting in all three departments in India’s 58-run loss to the Kiwis on Friday and will have their hands full against a high-flying Pakistani side who brushed aside Sri Lanka by 31 runs in their first match of the tournament.

Head coach Amol Muzumdar and captain Harmanpreet will already be wary of a formidable Pakistani bowling battery, featuring the likes of Nida Dar, captain Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal.

India will be looking towards their experienced batters like Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues to step up for the crucial clash.

Scheduled to play a tricky Sri Lankan side and six-time Women’s T20 World Cup champions Australia in their next two Group A matches, anything but a win in Sunday’s contest could end any realistic chance of India progressing to the knockouts.

India vs Pakistan women’s T20 head-to-head

The India vs Pakistan T20 women’s duel has played out 15 times in the short format with the Indian women’s cricket team triumphing on 12 occasions.

Pakistan have won only three with their last victory against their rivals coming at the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup - a 13-run win in Sylhet.

India have won the two matches played since, including the last meeting in the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup in Dambulla. Smriti Mandhana scored 45 runs off 31 balls while Shafali Verma managed 40 off 29 as India won the Group A match by seven wickets.

Interestingly though, the other two of Pakistan’s three victories over India have come in T20 World Cups. India have won the remaining five meetings.
