India created history when they won their record third Champions Trophy title a few days ago by defeating New Zealand in the final. This was their second ICC trophy in less than a year, after they ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought by winning the T29 World Cup 2024. However, after the monumental win, legendary West Indies fast bowler Andy Roberts has joined the bandwagon of ex-players who have slammed the champions' schedule. In fact, Roberts has even accused the ICC of constantly favouring India.

The Champions Trophy was held in Pakistan, but India played all their matches in Dubai, including the semi-final and final, as they were not allowed to travel to Pakistan for security reasons. In the T20 World Cup 2024 , India's semi-final venue was pre-decided at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

In an interaction with Mid-Day, Andy Roberts lashed out at ICC for favouring India. He said that the apex cricketing body also must say no to India at times.

“Something’s got to give… India can’t get everything. The ICC must say no to India at times. India even had an advantage at last year’s T20 World Cup, where they knew in advance where their semi-final would be played. At the Champions Trophy, India did not have to travel at all. How can a team not travel during a tournament?" the three-time World Cup winner asked.

'ICC Is Indian Cricket Board'

Andy Roberts went on to bash ICC even further saying that they let India dictate everything. Even if India wants the sport to have no no-balls and wides, the ICC would find a way to do that as well.

“To me, the ICC stands for the Indian Cricket Board. India dictates everything. If tomorrow, India says, ‘listen there should be no no-balls and wides,’ take my word, the ICC will find a way to satisfy India," he added.
