Asif Khan accepts 15

DUBAI: United Arab Emirates cricketer Asif Khan has accepted a 15-month ban after returning a positive dope test, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Thursday.

The 36-year-old tested positive for a metabolite of mesterolone in an out-of-competition sample taken on September 8, 2025. According to the ICC, Asif admitted a violation of Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code and agreed to the sanction under a Case Resolution Agreement involving the ICC and the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The ICC said the period of ineligibility has been backdated to September 8, 2025, and will remain in effect until December 7, 2026. Asif can return to training with a team or access club facilities from October 8, but he will not be eligible to play competitive cricket until December 8, 2026.

The governing body also said all of Asif’s individual results from September 8, 2025, to December 29, 2025, when his provisional suspension started, have been disqualified. That includes the forfeiture of any medals, points, prize money or prizes linked to those performances. Asif made his international debut for the UAE in 2022 and has since played 38 one-day internationals and 56 Twenty20 internationals.
