‘Liverpool make Andy Robertson transfer decision after deal agreed’

Liverpool are planning to accept offers for Andy Robertson after completing their deal to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Arne Slot is prepared to accept offers for the 31-year-old.

With Kerkez’s arrival now imminent, the Reds will have three left-backs on their books, all of whom will be keen to play first-team football next season.

Football Insider revealed on 17 June that Liverpool could cash in on Robertson if an acceptable offer arrives rather than hand him a new deal.

Kerkez is expected to come in as the first-choice option under Slot which has led to growing speculation surrounding Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are currently the favourites to sign the Scotland international, while Nottingham Forest and Leeds are interested in Tsimikas.

Brown told Football Insider on 18 June that Robertson wants to join Atletico Madrid rather than staying in the Premier League should he be allowed to leave Anfield.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Liverpool are prepared to accept offers should an acceptable one arrive.

“Kerkez is a top-class player,” he told Football Insider.

“He will go to Liverpool and be their first-choice left-back.

“I didn’t realise Robertson is into his 30s now, and while he could still perform at the top level, it won’t be long until his abilities start to fade.

“They’ve got Tsimikas there as well, and they’re not going to carry three left-backs.

“All three of those will want to play first-team football and two won’t be getting it at Liverpool.

“In terms of wages and transfer value, they would make the most back from letting Robertson go.

“If they get an acceptable offer for him, I think they’ll entertain it.”

Darwin Nunez update emerges at Anfield

Robertson may not be the only first-team regular on his way out at Anfield this summer amid ongoing speculation surrounding Darwin Nunez.

Football Insider revealed on 18 June that Liverpool “will do everything” to sell Nunez as they attempt to recoup a significant portion of the £64million spent to bring him in.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 16 June that both Napoli and Atletico Madrid want to sign Nunez and could explore loan-to-buy deals.

Both clubs could insert a buy option or obligation worth around £40million, but Liverpool feel there is more value in a sale to Saudi Arabia.
