Mo Salah sent new transfer message by legend who regrets leaving Liverpool

Mo Salah has been warned the 'grass is not always greener' by a Liverpool legend, as the Egyptian star's contract nears its final six months.

Ian Rush twice left Anfield during his career, first for Juventus and then Leeds, and perhaps knows better than most how it feels to exit from the Reds. Salah meanwhile is not alone in facing his own possible departure, as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are both also currently set to see their deals expire at the end of the season.

Liverpool star forward Salah has reinforced his importance under Arne Slot on his way to 10 goals and six assists in 12 Premier League appearances. But following victory over Southampton, the 32-year-old publically revealed he had yet to receive a new offer from the Reds.

"We're almost in December, I haven't received any offer to stay at the club, so probably I'm more out than in. [I'm] disappointed but we will see," he said.

"I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well.

"I've been at the club for many years and [there is] no club like this, but in the end, it's not in my hands. As I said before, it's [almost] December, so I haven't seen anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me, but in the end it's not in my hands or the fans' hands so let's wait and see."

Rush remains hopeful that the futures of Liverpool's stars can be resolved. “Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side,” Rush told SportsBoom.

“That’s what you’ve got to look at, Liverpool is such a magnificent club. I left Liverpool to go to Juventus but was very lucky to get the chance to come back. I was very privileged.

“Let’s see what happens, but at the end of the day all players leave or retire at some stage. But for me I don’t think any of them want to leave Liverpool. Liverpool is such a big club, a special club with such special supporters.

“I enjoy watching all of those players. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but the three of them have been fantastic for Liverpool. Once the players buy into the club it’s so hard to leave. It’s such a magnificent club.”
