After a nightmare series against India, where he scored just 184 runs in 10 innings with Jasprit Bumrah getting the better of him on six occasions, Usman Khawaja bounced back in style with the maiden double century of his career during the first Test match between Australia and Sri Lanka, which is currently taking place at the Galle International Stadium.

The 38-year-old made a knock of 232 as Australia posted a huge total of 644 on the board. Stand-in skipper Steve Smith (141) and debutant Josh Inglis (131) also made centuries. Khawaja shared a 266-run partnership for the third wicket with Smith. Later, the left-handed opening batter put up a 146-run stand for the fourth wicket with Inglis.
