Alexander Isak starts as Liverpool kick off their Champions League campaign at home to Atletico Madrid, with Arne Slot making three changes from the win at Burnley.

Isak’s full debut comes just over a fortnight after his £125 million move from Newcastle – and it comes in a high-profile clash.

Slot has already stressed that the striker will not play the full 90 minutes but there is a confidence he can play at least a half of football on his first outing.

Alisson is retained behind a reshuffled back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

There is also change in midfield with Dominik Szoboszlai joining Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz after his stint at right-back.

Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo are the chosen attackers flanking Isak in the centre-forward role.

With Isak starting that means Hugo Ekitike drops to the bench, which also includes the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Rio Ngumoha and Jayden Danns.
