While the Seattle Seahawks have been fairly busy during the first week of free agency, finding a starting caliber offensive lineman has eluded them thus far.You can cross off another possible guard option from the dwindling list of potential starters. On Friday night, the Los Angeles Chargers inked a two-year deal with Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles guard Mekhi Becton.OL Mekhi Becton has agreed to a two-year deal with the Chargers, sources tell ESPN.Becton plans on playing guard, as he did this past season in Philadelphia. — Tim McManus (@Tim_McManus) March 15, 2025Becton’s contract is reportedly worth up to $20 million. Becton was a tackle with the New York Jets, which was understandable given it ain’t normal for guards to be 6’7 and north of 360 lbs. It didn’t work out for him with the Jets—he ain’t unique in that sense—but he was picked up by the Eagles as a free agent in 2024 and moved inside to right guard. Playing on the consensus best offensive line in football, the 25-year-old Becton has seemingly found his best role at an NFL level. As a physically imposing figure and mauler, Becton may not have necessarily been a good fit for Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and offensive line coach John Benton’s wide zone scheme, but he wasn’t to be completely discounted in the ongoing OL search.Field Gulls’ own Tyler Alsin compiled a list of the top FA guards who were signed/unsigned as of Wednesday. Becton is now off the board and so is Kevin Zeitler, who went to the Tennessee Titans. That leaves Brandon Scherff and Teven Jenkins as the most notable remaining choices for the Seahawks, and Jenkins is set to meet with Seattle on Monday.
