Celtic Set To Bank Huge Johnny Kenny Profit As Two Clubs Show Interest

With Martin O'Neill in charge of the team once again next season, it is clear that the Celtic is in need of an overhaul in order to keep the team competing on all fronts.

Some major changes to the playing squad are likely to be on the horizon, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. The club have already signed Camilo Duran from Qarabag, with further signings set to follow.

In terms of sales, the likes of Daizen Maede and Arne Engles could be on their way out of Parkhead. It looks as though an Ireland international could join them.

Celtic set to bank significant profit on Johnny Kenny

Johnny Kenny spent the second half of last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, having turned down interest from some big sides on the continent.

He went on to help the club to promotion from League One via the play-offs. It always seemed likely he would be on the move once again this summer, with a couple of potential destinations now emerging.

Football journalist Alan Nixon is reporting on his Patreon that Millwall have joined Bolton Wanderers in the race to sign Johnny Kenny from Celtic ahead of next season.

Bolton were clearly impressed with the Sligo man's contributions earlier this year, hoping to make his move a permanent one. Meanwhile, Millwall are also in the market for a striker as they look to push for promotion once again after reaching the Championship play-offs this season.

It is said that a deal worth around £850,000 would be enough to secure the player's signature, a fee that would amount to quite the profit for Celtic.

The Glasgow club signed Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers for just €150,000 back in 2022, meaning they are set to bank a significant profit on that amount this summer.

Martin O'Neill uncertain on Kenny's Celtic future

Speaking earlier this month, Martin O'Neill Kenny's future was still up in the air after the player returned for pre-season at Celtic.

Johnny’s here at this minute. He’s got another three or four weeks before he’s fit. Like everything else, you’re waiting around for things to happen.

I think Johnny did very, very well at Bolton. I think that Bolton were very impressed with him, I must admit. I will see when we get people into the football club, then we’ll have a wee look to see where we are.

He looks as if he’s got stronger looking as well too in his time away.

A good offer from elsewhere will likely be enough to prise him away from Celtic.
