Romano: Baleba 'Would Love' to Join Man Utd

Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of a new midfield signing after it emerged a £70m star is very keen on making the switch to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils had prioritised moves for Elliot Anderson and Matheus Fernandes this summer, but rival interest from Man City and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively, saw the asking prices go above and beyond what United were willing to pay, and they ultimately missed out on both players.

The club are now looking at potential alternatives to come in as they look to replace Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, who has suffered a serious knee injury while playing at the World Cup, and some familiar names are being linked.

Romano: Baleba 'Would Love' to Join Man Utd

Carlos Baleba has been a long-term target for INEOS at Old Trafford, with the Cameroon international linked with a move to Man Utd last summer before he was priced out by Brighton.

The 22-year-old has already agreed personal terms over a switch, but Romano has revealed in his latest YouTube video that talk of a switch is currently 'cold', with no fresh contact between INEOS and the player's reps or Brighton.

"Carlos Baleba will love that [to join this summer], in the sense that Baleba, already, one year ago, agreed personal terms with Man United," he said.

"He was ready to go to Man United one year ago without European football, so imagine how much he would like to go to United. But at the moment, Baleba and his agents are yet to receive any fresh message from Manchester United.

"So, while Tchouameni is a name always discussed internally, while Andrey Santos is a player that they discussed with his agents and is a target in the sense of being on the list, for Baleba, at the moment, United are aware of the player's desire.

"He would be super keen on joining Manchester United, but at the moment, United have not returned with an approach or a proposal to Brighton. So, at the moment, the Baleba topic, I think it's a little bit cold."

Baleba Would Be Huge Coup for Man Utd

Man Utd need midfield signings, and while they are looking to be fairly sensible with their budget, they must ensure they get the right players in to strengthen the squad.

Fernandes and Anderson would have been excellent, while a move for Tchouameni makes a lot of sense considering his quality and level of experience. But alongside a deal for Ederson, it looks unlikely. Baleba is there, though, waiting and ready to make the move as soon as the opportunity arises.

Brighton won't be easy to deal with, but Man Utd have the funds, and Baleba would be a perfect addition to the squad with the qualities and attributes that he has. This should be a no-brainer of a deal.
