Mohammed Siraj was all fired up after getting the big wicket of Ben Duckett on Day 4 of the Lord’s Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Immediately after Duckett was caught at covers off his bowling, Siraj walked straight to the opener and barged shoulders with him, shouting in his face. Shubman Gill and Co. had to pull him back as well, and soon, the umpires were seen giving Siraj an earful. Watch a video of the moment here:

Duckett was looking in good touch before getting out on the fifth ball of the sixth over. It was a poor shot. Siraj bowled it on a length just outside off, but the left-hander seemed to read the bounce wrong, pulling it straight to mid-on, who took an easy catch.

Siraj’s reaction looked connected to how him being all fired up since Day 3. He was leading the sledging at Duckett and his partner, Zak Crawley, when the Indian team felt that they were wasting time to avoid facing more than one over before Stumps. Crawley pulled out of his stance a few times before Jasprit Bumrah began his run-up and called up the physio after being hit on the finger.

Gill engaged in finger-pointing with Crawley and argued angrily with Duckett. Siraj is often the first to back up his skippers in such situations and even on the fifth day, he was doing stare-downs and hurling a few words at the openers.

Siraj risking ICC reprimand

The umpires’ reaction — who seemed to be asking him to avoid body contact — is an indication that Siraj could land himself in trouble. If the match referee Richie Richardson deems it to be a deliberate shoulder-barge, he can charge him for a Level 1 or 2 offense under ICC’s law 2.12.
