The legendary tennis player Chris Evert announces that she has ovarian cancer again

The legendary American tennis player Chris Evert, winner of 18 Grand Slam titles, has announced that the ovarian cancer she has been suffering from for several years has returned and that she will begin chemotherapy treatment, which will keep her away from her professional commitments.

The former player, 71, made her situation public on social media. "I have always believed in the importance of being open and honest about my health. Last weekend, after undergoing computed tomography scans and positron emission tomography (PET) scans, I learned that my ovarian cancer had returned".

'"I have already undergone surgery as the first step in my treatment and recovery, and I will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks. For this reason, I will not attend Wimbledon this year and will step away from my professional commitments over the next few months to focus on my health," the legendary American added in her statement.'

"Ovarian cancer is relentless, but I will remain optimistic and determined to keep fighting. I am deeply grateful to my medical team, my family, my friends, and everyone who has offered me their support and encouragement. I hope to see you all soon," concludes Chris Evert's statement, who as a player won eighteen Grand Slam titles and maintained a historic rivalry on the court with Martina Navratilova.

Evert won seven Roland Garros titles, six US Open titles, three Wimbledon titles, and two Australian Open titles. She became world number one in September 1975.
