Virat Kohli is on the verge of getting dropped from the Test side after failing miserably in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under. He was dismissed eight times outside the off stump, with the Aussie pacers bowling him in the fourth and the fifth stumps in five Test matches. The final of the next WTC is in 2027 and Kohli will be 38 by then. He wants to continue for a couple of years and is fit enough to carry on in the longest format of the game. However, the national selectors will take a call on his future in red-ball cricket. He will be removed if the batter fails in the next few contests.

In a bid to to save his Test career, Virat Kohli like to play in County Cricket ahead of the England red-ball series, according to a report in Republic which quoted RevSportz. Kohli’s County stint could clash with the 18th season of the Indian Premier League. and that would disturb his plans to prepare for the Test series against England.

Kohli doens’t have a solution for his off stump nightmare and the bowlers are exploiting his weakness. The star batter doesn’t play domestic cricket in India and that’s why he is finding hard to get going in red-ball cricket. The shorter formats are different from Test cricket and a player is expected to compete in premier red-ball competition to resolve the shortcomings.

Virat has been found wanting against the swinging deliveries in England and playing county cricket ahead of the series would help one of the best batters in the world. He will not feel the pressure of expectations in domestic cricket in England. If Virat is able to perform in county cricket, he could help India against the Ben Stokes-led team.
