Kamiji Yui of Japan pulled off a stunning display to win gold in the wheelchair tennis women’s singles gold medal match at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.She overcame defending champion Diede de Groot of the Netherlands 4-6 6-3 6-4 on Friday (6 September), as De Groot had to settle for silver in a hard-fought display.The bronze medal went to Aniek van Koot, who defeated Wang Ziyang of the People’s Republic of China in straight sets to guarantee two Dutch athletes on the podium.Friday’s women’s singles final was their second meeting in two days – on Thursday (5 September), Kamiji prevailed in the women’s doubles with partner Tanaka Manami, a tense final which went all the way to a deciding tiebreak.
