Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah might extend his stay at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru so that he can have a discussion with BCCI's medical team and plan the way forward, according to a report in The Times of India. His scans and full assessment have been done at the NCA and a comprehensive medical report is expected to be presented on Saturday, February 8.

Once the medical team have done their bit of tabling the report, the final word will be communicated to BCCI, who are desperately awaiting a final word on Bumrah, who is expected to play a crucial role in India's Champions Trophy campaign, if he turns up fit on time.

The opinion of Dr Rowan Schouten , an orthopaedic spine surgeon from Christchurch, can be sought after the report is ready as well. When Bumrah underwent the first X-ray last month, the reports were shared with the former and he is expected to be kept in the loop this time as well.

The deadline to finalise the Champions Trophy team is inching closer and BCCI is waiting with bated breath to know about Bumrah's physical fitness and if he will be available for the marquee tournament. Skipper Rohit Sharma had said before the first ODI against England that the team would get clarity over the star bowler's availability once the X-rays were done.

Bumrah was replaced by Varun Chakravarthy in the squad for the England ODIs and if he remains unavailable for selection in the Champions Trophy, it will need to be seen if the spinner flies to Dubai or Harshit Rana takes his place.

After a gruelling time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah has stayed away from all cricketing action since the final day of the Sydney Test, on which he didn't bowl since the back issue had already flared.
