Karim Adeyemi has also drawn comparisons to a Liverpool superstar for his dribbling styleBorussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi has already told Manchester United his favourite position with an exciting statement about how he thrives in attack. The Munich-born footballer's future is currently shrouded in uncertainty with reports in Germany suggesting that Ruben Amorim could be ready to swoop for the rising star. The 23-year-old is one of the most promising players in European football and has already earned 11 caps for Germany at international level, so it's no surprise United are interested in acquiring his services. His form this season, however, has been pretty poor. Adeyemi has failed to register a single goal or assist since the end of September and he has endured a public fallout with manager Niko Kovac. If United were to secure the signing of Adeyemi, he would add significant firepower to their front line, which already includes the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. In an interview with Sky Sports two years ago, Adeyemi revealed his favourite position having played at both striker and winger during his career so far."I think I can play in almost any position in the offensive line," he said. "But right now I am thinking as a winger."Adeyemi then revealed where he thrives most in game scenarios, adding: "I think to get on the nerves of the defenders all the time with one-against-one or runs behind the defenders. Being there where the defender cannot see me. Getting assists, getting goals. This, I think, is my game."The young speedster has been clocked running 30 metres in just 3.6 seconds, which is faster than Usain Bolt's 3.78 time, making him one of the fastest footballers on the planet. The reason for his fallout with boss Kovac stems from a match at the end of last month, where Adeyemi launched a water bottle towards the bench after being substituted.Kovac would then publicly condemn Adeyemi's actions, branding them "unnecessary". Then, in Dortmund's 1-1 draw with Hamburg last weekend, Kovac appeared agitated by Adeyemi's play and substituted him on 66 minutes.According to Bild, discussions around the winger's future have already begun. His current contract still has two more years on it and his people reportedly want a long-term extension and a £70million release clause.Adeyemi's rise to the top of the game has been remarkable to watch and he has been on said rise for many years despite his age. He received Germany's Fritz-Walter Medal in 2019 for being the brightest under-17 player in the country. He was playing for Red Bull Salzburg that year, with one goal and four assists in just 12 games contributing to him picking up the prestigious award.Adeyemi would go on to bag nine goals and 12 assists in the following season, with a further 23 goals and nine assists in the campaign following that.He then, of course, made the move to Dortmund for the 2022/2023 campaign and earned his first-ever call-up to the national team. The Bundesliga themselves have compared him to Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah."Both goalscoring left-footers who make magic happen from out wide, there are plenty of similarities," reads the Bundesliga's comparison."Both are anti-Lionel Messis when it comes to their dribbling style, using high centre of gravity to trick defenders at speed. If they're not successful with a piece of skill, they tend to win a free kick in a dangerous area. Adeyemi prefers to start off the left to Salah's right, but there are signs that when it comes to entering the opponent's box, BVB's frontman could get even better."Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.Make sure you don’t miss out on the latest United news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
