More infoMichael Stewart threw his weight behind Philippe Clement's assessment of Rangers' first half against St Mirren - believing that's what 'killed' them in Paisley. The raging Ibrox boss let rip at an 'unacceptable' first half, admitting he was raging at the half-time break as his side trailed 1-0. He got more of what he wanted in the second 45 but the damage had been done and St Mirren were able to nick a late win despite Danilo's equaliser. That left them three points behind Celtic, who'd taken care of Motherwell with a 4-0 win earlier in the day. Gers now travel to Fir Park on Sunday while Brendan Rodgers' team host St Johnstone at the same time, but with 12 points between the teams now, it's hard to imagine any way back into the title race for Rangers - even if they win the anticipated derby on January 2.Stewart certainly sees it that way, although he wasn't convinced by their chances of a fightback even before that. Speaking on BBC Sportsound's coverage, the pundit said: "They never had a chance of catching Celtic, but now if Aberdeen remember how to win games, they could be in trouble. That first half performance is what's killed Rangers. They're losing this game tonight because their first half was so poor."Tune in to Hotline Live every Sunday to Thursday and have your say on the biggest issues in Scottish football.
