Africa Flag 2025: Egypt to host inaugural African Flag Football Championships

The first IFAF African Flag Football Championships will be held in Egypt in June 2025, the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) have announced.

Also known as AFRICA FLAG 2025, the first edition of the continental tournament in Africa will take place in the capital of Cairo from 20-21 June.

The championship will consist of men’s elite and women’s elite competitions, as well as an under-12 boys’ and girls’ NFL Flag Continental Championship contested between hosts Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria.

AFRICA FLAG 2025 will serve as a stepping stone towards the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships, before the sport makes its Olympic debut at the LA 2028 Games.

Flag football at LA28 will be held at the Stadium in Exposition Park, which is adjacent to the LA Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.

The Olympic flag football venue is the home of MLS and NWSL soccer teams Los Angeles Football Club and Angel City Football Club respectively.
