ICC Announce Discipline For Indian Bowler

The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup was an entertaining entry, to say the least. However, it’s fair to say that Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh stole the show during the World Cup Final.

However, they have garnered attention for vastly different reasons.

Bumrah was awarded Player of the Match for his 4/15 bowling figures that helped lock down any hope of a successful New Zealand chase. On the other hand, Arshdeep now faces discipline for his actions during the World Cup Final.

Arshdeep Singh Fined for His Actions During World Cup Final Against New Zealand

On March 10, 2026, the ICC announced disciplinary action against Arshdeep.

“Arshdeep was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel,” the ICC wrote. “Which relates to ‘throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match.”

The ICC also revealed what his discipline will be.

“Apart from the fine, one demerit point was added to Arshdeep’s disciplinary record,” the ICC revealed. “For whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period. ”

Arshdeep’s fine was for 15 percent of his match fee. The ICC classified his breach as Level 1.

What Was Arshdeep Fined For?

The incident in question happened during the 11th over of the World Cup Final match against New Zealand.

During this over, New Zealand was batting. The ball was fielded by Arshdeep, who threw the ball towards the wicket, hitting Daryl Mitchell in the process. Mitchell responded with a few words for Arshdeep, but no altercation occurred on the field.

Following the incident, India’s captain came over to Mitchell and had a discussion. At the same time, one of the officials of the match spoke with Arshdeep.

Some time after that, Arshdeep went over to Mitchell to patch things up. Following the match, Arshdeep apologized to Mitchell.

Arshdeep Singh’s 2026 T20 World Cup Performance

Arshdeep had a great tournament, even if the World Cup Final match didn’t finish the way he would have hoped.

The Indian bowler surrendered 32 runs in four overs of action on Sunday against New Zealand. Arshdeep finished the match with an Economy of 8.00.

Over the tournament, his most impressive feat was the volume of dot balls he collected. In eight innings, Arshdeep recorded 77 dot balls. That was the second-most dot balls in the tournament, nine behind Jofra Archer of England. Archer recorded 86 dot balls during the tournament.

In 30 overs of work, Arshdeep finished the tournament with nine wickets and an 8.47 Economy to go along with the aforementioned 77 dot balls. His best figure came against Zimbabwe on February 26th, 2026.

Arshdeep finished the match with a 3/24 figure to go along with a 6.00 Economy. India defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs, winning by 256/4 to 184/6.

Is Arshdeep Singh Playing in the IPL in 2026?

Arshdeep is set to play for the Punjab Kings of the IPL in 2026. In 2025, he recorded 21 wickets in 17 matches, conceding 518 runs.

He finished the season with an 8.88 Economy.

Arshdeep’s 21 wickets were good for the fifth-most at the conclusion of the 2025 IPL season. He was one of seven bowlers in the IPL to record a maiden during the season.

The 2026 IPL season is expected to launch on March 28th, 2026. However, no formal schedule has been announced yet.
