PCB Allocates Rs 12.8 Billion Rupees For Renovation Of Stadiums Ahead Of ICC Champions Trophy

In a significant boost to the existing cricket infrastructure in the country, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has undertaken a project worth Rs 12.8 billion rupees for the renovation of the stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The same was confirmed by the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Mohsin Naqvi was speaking in a briefing at the Board of Governors meeting in Faisalabad. In the meeting, Naqvi assured that the three venues will be ready in time for the marquee event, the major ICC event scheduled next year barring the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

The budget for the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore alone is 1,100 million rupees which will be spent for the construction of a steel-structured pavilion. 3,741 million rupees will be spent for a concrete office building while 1,250 million rupees will be used for the steel structure of the enclosure. 189 million rupees has been allocated for a moat while 330 million will be used for the replacement of two LED digital screens.

In addition, the Pakistan Board will be replacing floodlights with 480 LED lights at the Gaddafi Stadium at a cost of 523 million rupees. 375 million rupees will be spent on the installation of seats while a buget of 93 million rupees is in place for external development works.

Fund Of Karachi, Rawalpindi Stadiums Renovation Budget 3.5 Billion & 1.5 Billion Respectively

As far as the National Stadium in Karachi is concerned, the PCB has 3.5 billion in funds for the renovation of the stadium that includes a new construction as well. This includes 1,5000 million for the steel structure of the pavilion building and another 580 and 330 million respectively for renovating the main building and the hospitality boxes and two new LED screens. 490 million rupees have been kept for replacing the floodlights with 450 LED lights while 340 million rupees is reserved for seat installation.

As far as the Rawalpindi Stadium is concerned, the construction work alone is estimated to cost 1.5 billion rupees with 393 million rupees reserved for replacing floodlights with 350 Led lights and 400 million rupees for renovation of the main building, hospitality boxes and restrooms.

Meanwhile, 330 million rupees have been earmarked for the replacement for the LEG digital screens. 272 million is what is kept as the budget of the new seating installations.
