Sligo reshuffle management as Sloyan takes sole charge

Sligo have reshuffled their managerial deck ahead of the 2027 season with last year's joint-managers Dessie Sloyan and Eamonn O'Hara pivoting into a manager-assistant manager arrangement.

Sloyan will be the man in charge with Yeats County legend O'Hara becoming his assistant.

The pair were joint-managers for just one season but the county have moved to make the adjustment ahead of the 2027 campaign.

A statement from Sligo Co Board read: "At a meeting of its County Committee last evening (Monday, 24 August 2026) Sligo GAA endorsed the management teams for its senior football and hurling and U20 football teams for 2027.

"Dessie Sloyan will lead a reconfigured coaching team working with our senior footballers alongside Eamonn O'Hara as Assistant Manager. Joe McMahon (St Enda’s Omagh, Tyrone) is joining the Group as Head Coach alongside Paul Higgins and Eamon McGee who continue from 2026. Des McGuinness (St Enda’s Omagh, Tyrone) joins as goalkeeping coach.

"Sean Boyle who heads Performance Games Development for Sligo GAA continues as S&C Coach and Michael Quinn (Killoe Young Emmets, Longford) joins as Performance coach."

Sligo will remain in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League for next season after finishing fifth in 2026.

They lost in the first round of the Connacht SFC when the went down to Leitrim by a point in mid-April.
