Gor Mahia aim to cement lead as Shabana navigate storm

The stakes could hardly be higher at Nyayo National Stadium this weekend as Gor Mahia look to tighten their grip on the SportPesa Premier League title race.

K’Ogalo sit top of the table with 53 points from 24 matches and arrive brimming with confidence, while their opponents, Shabana FC, come into the fixture under pressure following back-to-back defeats and a midweek managerial shake-up.

Shabana’s interim coach, Andrea Ongwae, faces an immediate test of leadership, tasked with restoring belief in a squad shaken by recent setbacks.

“The situation demands honesty,” Ongwae said. “We have stumbled in the last two matches, and we must confront that truth. My priority is to restore belief, instil discipline, and prepare the team for an opponent who punishes even the smallest lapse.”

Defender James Mazembe emphasised the need for unity across the pitch.
