Bryan Robson picks out Casemiro for being the smartest player as he builds the perfect footballer

Bryan Robson has sung the praises of Manchester United veteran Casemiro, labelling the Brazilian as the smartest footballer he has ever seen.

Casemiro is enjoying a resurgence in the Manchester United team, despite Ruben Amorim admitting he had fallen below Toby Collyer in the pecking order when the Portuguese coach arrived at Old Trafford.

United could face a dilemma in the summer because Casemiro’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. It is understood that no talks have taken place yet between the club and the player’s representatives.

As things stand, Casemiro is one of the first names on the team sheet every week. The 33-year-old has started in every Premier League game so far this season, and he’s one of the leaders in the United dressing room.

It remains to be seen if Ineos will extend Casemiro’s contract, but as one of the highest-paid players in the squad, they’ll likely expect the former Real Madrid ace to lower his wage demands.

United legend Bryan Robson was set an exciting challenge by the Daily Mail.

The former United and England midfielder was tasked with building the perfect footballer, with six different key factors.

Robson selected Paul Gascoigne for his right foot and personality, before picking his own wand of a left foot.

Former United winger Andrei Kanchelskis got the nod for speed, while the legendary Roy Keane was acknowledged for his strength.

The only current United player that made the selection was Casemiro, with Robson hailing the Brazil international for having the highest football IQ he has seen.

Bryan Robson’s records at Man Utd

Robson is the longest-serving captain in United’s history, after wearing the armband for 12 years between 1982 and 1994.

Although it is often argued that Robson deserved more trophies at United, he is the only United captain in history to win the FA Cup three times.

Robson is currently an ambassador for the club.
