Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has rejected a proposal from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, reports said on Tuesday.

Rumours about the Portuguese midfielder inching closer to an exit from the Premier League club, which he joined back in 2020, swirled but the reports suggest the former Sporting Lisbon player wants to continue competing at football’s highest level.

While media has been reporting of the player’s agent being in Riyadh to discuss Fernandes’ future, United head coach Ruben Amorim had placed his faith in his skipper to continue at the English outfit.

“I don’t think so, I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think so,” Amorim replied when asked whether United’s 3-1 win over Hong Kong in a friendly was Fernandes’ last match for the club.

“He sees us taking some actions and to change all the things ... I think he wants to stay. I talk with him, I explained some things and I just have that feeling when you talk to someone, I think you have that feeling if he wants to stay,” the coach added.

Manchester United has begun to make moves in the summer transfer window after the club announced the signing of Brazilian and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. The club is also rumoured to be close to securing the services of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
