Jamie Carragher, a historic Liverpool defender who is now thriving as a television pundit on CBS Sports, has predicted that Erling Haaland will become the greatest goalscorer of all time.'

Haaland, who scored two goals in Manchester City's win over Porto, has 167 goals in 203 matches for the "Citizens" and is already the third-highest goalscorer in City's history.

In his career, Haaland has scored 366 goals in 445 matches for his clubs and the Norway national team.

'Carragher believes that Haaland is capable of reaching four digits in goals before ending his playing career: "I simply cannot conceive of Haaland not scoring 1,000 goals or not becoming the top scorer of all time".'

"I've never seen anything like it in terms of goals and numbers, and it happens in every match. But because he does it so often, it doesn't seem all that extraordinary," shared the 48-year-old former English footballer.

'Jamie Carragher insisted that "I simply don't see how he isn't going to end up becoming the top scorer or achieving the most goals we have ever seen anyone score".'

What goal-scoring average would Haaland need to achieve to reach 1,000 goals in his career?

To reach 1,000 goals, Haaland would need to score 634 more before hanging up his boots.

"The Sun" estimates that the Norwegian striker would need to score 63.4 goals per season for 10 years.

Officially, Cristiano Ronaldo (41 years old) is the all-time top scorer with 978 goals in his career, followed by the 927 goals of Leo Messi (39 years old).

Pelé is credited with 1,284 goals, but his record is not official.

'Erling Haaland has shared that he has only enjoyed two weeks of summer vacation, during which he relaxed by chopping wood on the grounds of his Cheshire mansion.'

On his YouTube channel, Haaland, who won the Champions League in 2023 and has just reached 300 goals at club level, shares that "this is where the magic happens. This is where I chop the wood and burn it."

"It gives me peace of mind; that's what I like. Chopping wood, burning it and relaxing, alone. It suits me very well, it clears my mind. So this is what I do when I'm at home. Watching the fire is pure peace. It's one of the things I like looking at the most. Nature is life," he explains.

Haaland points out that "I've been doing it for as long as I can remember" and that "we used to do it at my cabin in Norway."

'The Manchester City footballer revealed that he started chopping wood thanks to a wise lesson from his father: "My father taught me this: that firewood warms you up several times. First you have to fell the tree, which warms you up. Then you have to chop it up, which warms you up. Set it out to dry, which warms you up. Go and fetch it and bring it inside, which warms you up. And then, burn it. You warm up six times thanks to that single tree".'
