Roshibina Devi secures silver in wushu at Asian Games 2026

Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi advanced to the women’s 60kg Sanda final at the 2026 Asian Games, guaranteeing India at least a silver medal and matching the nation’s best-ever performance in the sport at the Games.

Roshibina defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semi-final to reach the title contest scheduled for tomorrow. She was not originally part of the Indian squad but replaced Divyanshi, who withdrew due to injury. Roshibina previously won silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games and is now assured another medal, competing for gold against China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final.

Earlier, Roshibina defeated Chu Man Sin in the quarter-final at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall on Tuesday, which guaranteed her at least a bronze medal.

India’s overall medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya increased on Wednesday, placing the country 13th in the standings with 12 medals. Mirabai Chanu won silver in the women’s 49kg weightlifting category, while the Indian men’s badminton team secured bronze after a 3-1 loss to China in the semi-final.

In shooting, Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan earned bronze in the women’s skeet team event. The men’s skeet team, comprising Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh, also won bronze. Additionally, in soft tennis, Jay Meena was defeated by Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka but secured a bronze medal.
