Surprisingly, even though Brevis had a starting price of just Rs 75 lakh during the big auction, Chennai decided to sign him for Rs 2.2 crore. Usually, when a team needs to replace an Indian player, they have to pick another Indian, but Chennai had an extra spot for an overseas player left after the IPL 2025 auction, so it worked out for them to get Brevis on board.

At only 21 years old, Brevis is already making waves in the cricket world. He’s often called ‘Baby AB’ because he looks and plays a lot like the famous AB de Villiers. Even though he has only played two T20 matches for South Africa and scored just five runs, cricket experts have high hopes for him, believing he has a lot of potential.

Just recently, Brevis played for the Titans in the CSA 4-Day Series Division 1 tournament, where he shined as one of the top players, scoring 573 runs in 12 innings at a solid average of 47.75. Before this latest signing, he had already appeared in 10 games for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. In addition, he’s also involved in the Major League Cricket and SA20 leagues.

It’s exciting to see how Brevis will bring his skills to the Chennai Super Kings and what he will achieve in the upcoming matches!
