First and Ten Notes

Missouri State kicks off its 115th season of college football -- and second season as an FBS program -- on Saturday (Sept. 5) when the Bears travel to No. 8 ranked Texas A&M for a 6 p.m. kickoff against the Aggies on ESPN.

Mo State is 52-59-3 all-time in season lid lifters with 2026 marking the 10th straight year the Bears have opened the season on the road.

Fifth-year QB Skyler Locklear (Clayton, N.C.) is closing in on 4,000 career yards of total offense. The UTEP transfer has racked up 3,706 yards in 23 career games and has accounted for 34 TDs in that span. He was named Mo State's starting QB on Aug. 20.

K Yousef Obeid (Dearborn, Mich.) has scored in 25 consecutive games for the Bears, the fifth-longest streak in program history. Converting a field goal or PAT at Texas A&M would move him into a tie for fourth-place with Jon Scifres (2003-05) on the club's all-time list. Obeid also ranks 18th on the program's career scoring list with 165 points (10th among kickers), just 27 points outside the club's all-time scoring top 10.

One of Coach Casey Woods' most-impactful influences in the coaching world is Texas A&M associate head coach and running backs coach Trooper Taylor. Woods worked under Taylor during a previous stop at Auburn (2009-11) when Woods was an offensive quality control coach and Taylor was wide receivers coach. The pair first crossed paths at Tennessee where Woods was a wide receiver and Taylor was his position coach.

Conference USA (.600) is one of just two FBS conferences, along with the SEC (.625), to have 60 percent of its teams coming off winning seasons in 2025.

LB Jared "Bird" Lloyd (5th, Daytona Beach, Fla.) has posted double-figure tackles in two of the Bears' last three games. The Preseason All-CUSA standout shared the team lead in total tackles a year ago (77) and also shares the team's longest active streak for consecutive starts (13), along with safety Christian Ford (Sr., McKinney, Texas).

Running back Breezy Dubar (Sr., Anna, Texas) averaged 5.0 yards per carry during his three seasons at Boise State where he saw action in 23 games and carried the ball 90 times. He enters the 2026 season needing 54 ground yards to reach 500 for his career.

WR Jmariyae Robinson (5th, Cocoa, Fla.) has caught a pass in a school-record 35 consecutive games, dating back to Sept. 1, 2023. With 16 career TD receptions, he also enters the 2026 season needing 2 more touchdowns to match the squad's career record (18), held by Steve Newbold (1977-80) and Jeff Hewitt (1998-00). Robinson also ranks No. 7 on Mo State's career receptions list (128) and is No. 11 in career receiving yards (1,722).

In Mo State's inaugural FBS season a year ago, the Bears' high-powered offense ranked 15th nationally in passing (279.7), 22nd in pass efficiency (151.59), 22nd in passing yards per completion (13.13) and 30th in time of possession (31:21).

Last season, Mo State played in 8 games decided by 7 points or less. The Bears' first season in the FBS ranks included five wins in which the winning scores came in the fourth quarter or overtime, including road wins at Marshall, New Mexico State and Liberty on their final offensive plays of the game.
