A physical altercation broke out during a four-day match between Bangladesh and South Africa Emerging Teams in Mirpur, when South African off-spinner Tshepo Ntuli and Bangladeshi batter Ripon Mondol engaged in a scuffle on the second day of play. The incident occurred after Mondol hit Ntuli for a six, leading to an exchange of glares that escalated into physical contact, with Ntuli pulling Mondol's helmet after both players exchanged shoves. The situation required intervention from umpire Kamruzzaman to separate the two players. Several South African players appeared to move towards the batter during the confrontation, while none attempted to restrain Ntuli."This is extreme, this is unacceptable. Normally we see verbal altercations in a cricket field but we don't often see a scuffle. Ntuli struck Ripon's helmet at one point," said commentator Nabil Kaiser while describing the incident during the match. The heated exchange continued after the initial confrontation when Ntuli aggressively threw the ball towards Mondol after the latter blocked a delivery. The tension remained evident throughout their on-field interactions.Ntuli eventually dismissed Mondol for 43 runs, ending a significant 67-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Mehedi Hasan, who remained unbeaten on 44. The partnership had helped Bangladesh's emerging team surpass 350 runs in their innings.Bangladesh's Emerging Team completed their innings with a total of 371 runs. By the end of the day's play, South Africa's Emerging Team had reached 152 for 6 wickets. The match officials did not take immediate action regarding the incident. The process requires the on-field umpires to submit an official report first. The match referee will then submit reports to both the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Cricket South Africa for further consideration and potential disciplinary action. This incident is not isolated in the ongoing tour. Earlier, during the one-day leg of the tour in Rajshahi, players Andile Simelane and Jishan Alam received suspensions following incidents in the second game, causing them to miss the third and final match.
