Five transfers Liverpool can complete this week as £150m raid opens up Premier League deal

Liverpool started early with their summer transfer business but there could be more to come from Andoni Iraola's side

With less than two weeks remaining before Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign, there is growing pressure to get deals over the line. Andoni Iraola will begin his first season in charge against Newcastle on August 23 and there is still work to be done.

The Reds have made some signings already, with Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz joining. Young defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe has also arrived, while a string of exits is headlined by Mohamed Salah's departure on a free and subsequent move to Trabzonspor.

Iraola took charge at Anfield for the first time when Liverpool hosted Monaco on Sunday, while a pair of friendlies against Como will follow next weekend. The new boss will have seen plenty from his charges in pre-season and has already hinted at certain areas needing attention.

There could yet be some exits as well as arrivals as we inch closer to the start of the season. Here are five deals which could take place this week.

Ronald Araujo

One deal which looks to be a matter of when rather than if is Ronald Araujo's arrival from Barcelona. The Uruguayan will join on an initial loan, with Barca boss Hansi Flick already confirming the move.

“We couldn’t include him like I wanted and also I think he wants to make something new," Flick said. "You know it more than me because in the past, something has happened, so this affected him.

“I saw him this morning and I said goodbye and I think he was very happy and Liverpool is also a fantastic club. I wish him all the best because he deserves it. He’s a fantastic guy and fantastic player and was a great captain.”

Curtis Jones

There are plenty of Liverpool fans who still don't want Jones to leave. However, he could yet be on the move if Inter Milan meet the Reds' asking price.

Jones is into the final year of his contract and this may be part of the reason the Italian club have been reluctant to spend significantly. A return of £35m could well be enough, though.

Whether that's the right call is another matter altogether. The England international is a homegrown talent who has contributed at key moments but an exit could bring in funds for moves elsewhere.

Bradley Barcola

One of the big-money targets still being linked with an Anfield move is France international Barcola. The winger has emerged as the top wide option, with earlier target Yan Diomande moving to Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain's pursuit of Ferran Torres could soften the blow of losing Barcola. As could a fee of around £110m, which is what the French giants would seemingly settle for.

Arsenal also continue to be linked with the former Lyon star. Barcola, who turns 24 in September, scored 11 league goals for PSG last term and impressed in France's run to the World Cup semi-finals.

Ibrahim Mbaye

Barcola might not be the only player to trade PSG for Liverpool. Ibrahim Mbaye is ready to leave the Ligue 1 side and the Reds are among potential suitors.

Senegal star Mbaye has seen his path to first team football in Paris blocked. A number of Premier League sides have been linked, with Liverpool by no means the only potential destination.

The 18-year-old made 30 appearances for PSG last term, though many of those were as a substitute. His age means he would be one for the future as well as the present, but a potential transfer fee of more than £40m speaks to his high potential.

Cody Gakpo

If Liverpool are able to complete that £150m double-swoop for the PSG pair, it could allow them to offload Gakpo. Tottenham are interested in the Dutch forward but the Reds are believed to want two new forwards before they entertain an exit.

Gakpo has scored 50 goals in 180 games in all competitions since joining from PSV Eindhoven. However, there are no indications of Iraola being desperate to cash in.

A hefty bid could change that, though. Numbers in the region of £70m have emerged on some corners of the internet and that kind of profit might be welcomed to offset a big-money Barcola deal.
