India took the opening set 25-22 against Hong Kong China in their second men’s Pool C match at Aichi-Nagoya.

The Indian team are eyeing their second win after opening their campaign with a 3-0 win over Vietnam yesterday.

Archery: Ganesh Mani Ratnam beats Sahil Jadhav to reach compound quarters

Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru edged countryman Sahil Jadhav 149-148 in the Round of 16 to enter the quarter-finals.

Ganesh will face Chinese Taipei’s Chen Chieh-lun in the quarter-finals on October 1.

Archery: Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam clash in compound Round of 16

India’s Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru advanced to the men’s individual compound pre-quarterfinals with wins in the Round of 32.

Sahil Jadhav beat Mongolia’s Jamiyangombo Purevdorj 149-137, while Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru edged Indonesia’s Sostar Andaru Rinaldi 144-142. The two Indians will now face each other in the next round.

Cricket: First quarter-final washed out, Pakistan advance

The first men’s quarter-final between Pakistan and Hong Kong China has been abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. Pakistan, the higher-seeded team, advance to the semi-finals.

Surfing: Sivaraj Babu exits in Round 3 of men’s shortboard

India’s Sivaraj Babu was knocked out in the Round 3 of the men’s shortboard event after losing 11.50-7.83 to Jayuard Alciso of the Philippines.

Kishore Kumar is the only Indian surfer remaining and will face the People’s Republic of China’s Ma Wensong at 6:46 AM.

The trio could also contest the individual final later in the morning, should they qualify.

Athletics brings a packed medal programme, led by Avinash Sable in the men’s 3000m steeplechase.

Murali Sreeshankar and David Patturaj Solomon will compete in the men’s long jump, while Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh will look to step up in the men’s javelin throw in the absence of the injured two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra.

Parul Chaudhary returns to the track alongside Seema in the women’s 5000m final, looking to add a second medal to her tally after a bronze in the 3000m steeplechase yesterday.

Gulveer Singh, silver medallist in the 10000m at Aichi-Nagoya, is another athlete who will be eyeing his second medal when he lines up for the men’s 1500m final.

Action will conclude on the athletics track with India’s women’s 4x100m relay final, the last scheduled event of the day.
