Following his Liverpool heroics, Mohamed Salah is now among the Premier League greats but sparked a debate with Eden Hazard

Chelsea icon Eden Hazard may have settled the debate with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah once and for all. The Egyptian has enjoyed a phenomenal return to the Premier League after his disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge.

Eyebrows were raised over his move initially but Salah has proved the recruitment team at Anfield right since making the move from AS Roma. At the time, Salah's return to England's top-flight made him their record arrival at the lowly price of £36million but since, he has not looked back, scoring a whopping 216 goals in 357 appearances.

While the 34-year-old has enjoyed a rise to prominence for the Reds, opposition supporters have argued that Hazard is better than his former Londoners teammate. The Belgian enjoyed a strong stint with Chelsea and earned a move to Real Madrid but the memories of his performances for the Stamford Bridge club see many tip him as one of the best in Premier League history.

But during a sitdown with Sport Bible, Hazard seemingly put the debate to bed. The 33-year-old was trying to guess his former Chelsea teammates from their old FIFA/EAFC game faces and when asked who was better him or Salah, the attacker wasted no time in responding.

The interviewer asks: "Who was better, you or Mo Salah?" Hazard shrugged and said: "Salah."

Liverpool face a battle to keep the Egyptian as he enters the final six months of his deal at the Reds. As it stands, Arne Slot's first season in charge as head coach could very well be the last for the 33-year-old on Merseyside.

Salah's deal expires in the summer but Jamie Carragher has raised doubts over whether Liverpool would let him leave. Speaking after the Egyptian's crucial role in the 3-0 win over Manchester United, he said: "I think Mo Salah is obsessed, like Ronaldo, with records and longevity.

"Most of us think, when you get to 35, you're done in football. The way that lad looks after himself, I think he's thinking of playing until he's 40, or late 30s at least.

"I don't think a Saudi situation is on the cards next season. He's too good. He's playing in the best league in the world, for one of the biggest clubs in the world," he continued. "Whether it's in another season or two seasons' time, he's alongside Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard as the top players to play for Liverpool. He's possibly the best wide player we've seen in the Premier League, even if hasn't got the medals that maybe some others have got.

"Of course you fight to keep him. It's not about throwing money at him. It's not what you've done in the past, it's what you're doing in the future.

"When you get into your mid-30s, you can't do what you did before - but he might be different. Of course Liverpool want to keep him and Virgil van Dijk, but it will probably be about wages. Are they still on the same wages because, in the next two or three years, will they still be the same players? That's the debate that will be had.

"I would be very surprised if Salah isn't playing for Liverpool next season because I think he'll want to blitz every record in the club's history."
