Championship: Wrexham play-off heartbreak and full table as Ipswich up

"If we win the game they still have to win those games and that is very difficult in this league .You see Millwall going to Leicester, who have just been relegated, and only get a point. You see Ipswich have won one in the last five.

"You don’t just win games. When it comes down to the head you have to win when everything is against you and you're looking up at the scoreboard…

"We’re in a great position to focus on ourselves, win that game and then we will see what happens. Otherwise we bring everything into the next step [the play-offs] and the next possibility that comes with it."

"It's obviously an important game. We've got to the last game of the season and it's great to be involved in the mix. We're going to give it everything we've got as you can imagine.

"Preparation has been decent, I am happy with the lads who seem in a really good place and ready to finish the regulation season hopefully with a really strong performance.

"As always, in any of these games, whether it's a big cup tie or it's a pivotal league game, it's blocking everything out. The motivation is always going to be there and understanding of concentrating on the detail of what's required on the day."

"I was relatively happily retired before this came along," Hodgson told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It just probably showed there are opportunities sometimes that come your way that maybe seem a little bit left field and you wonder, 'Am I really capable of taking this on?' And I proved to myself I am. There's no doubt about that.

"Any fears I might have had that, 'Well, you're too old for this now, you can't get out on the field with the players, you can't do the coaching and manage the team in the way you always did.' No, that's not true, I can do.

"On the other hand, whether I want to put myself in this position again and offer myself up for that type of employment, that's another question altogether.

"Because I am the age I am and I've had the career I've had, which I'm very pleased with and very satisfied with, it's given me so much.

"But I must say these five weeks here have given me a lot as well. So if this is the last time I step out on the grass, I've polished my boots today and if I do have to put them away they'll look spanking clean in the wardrobe. Who knows?

"Maybe something else will come up and once again you guys will say, 'He must be crazy because now he's accepted this opportunity.'"

We have been written off for a large part of this season already, so its makes no difference to us - we'll concentrate on ourselves.

"It hasn't really been in our hands for a lot of the season. We haven't really cemented a top-six place at any stage and just flirted with it. It's been in everyone else's hands.

"The group is going to enjoy it, there's no pressure on us. We have to enjoy and embrace the occasion, and if we are lucky enough to get the three points, let's see how the other two do."
