More infoRory McIlroy will be hoping his next home in the UK will be as spectacular as his last in Northern Ireland. The Holywood star has already enjoyed an incredible 2025, winning the Masters in April to complete the career Grand Slam. McIlroy, 36, now has one eye on the upcoming PGA Championship, where victory next week would see him swiftly become a six-time major winner.Off the course, though, his attention has turned to a return to the UK, where he and wife Erica Stoll are currently having a new home constructed. McIlroy used to live in a spectacular mansion worth £1.8million, which was the perfect house for a golfer of his skill. He will be hoping his next property comes close to his previous UK abode, which he reluctantly sold to TV presenter Gary McCausland for slightly below the asking price. While McIlroy was in the early stages of his career, he resided in a jaw-dropping mansion in Co Down, near Holywood. The estate sprawled across 14 acres of land and included its own private driving range, as well as a private green for putting. When he got fed up of practicing his driver he could turn to his serve, as the property also had its own private tennis court. It would prove to be the base in which his first two major victories, the 2011 US Open and the 2012 PGA Championship, were built. Unfortunately for McIlroy, keeping the property became impractical due to his repeated travelling across the pond for PGA Tour competitions and other majors. He sold the mansion for slightly less than the £1.8million asking price. McIlroy's disappointment may have been soothed by the next property he purchased, a jaw-dropping mansion in Jupiter, Florida, worth a reported $22m (£16.6m).The home, which belonged to US golf legend Ernie Els, was built on a 2.4-acre plot of land, featuring nine bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, an infinity pool, games room, home theatre, and recording studio.(Image: Five Star)While there was no private driving range or putting green, he did have a tennis court. His golfing urges can be satisfied by driving 90 minutes out of Miami to a course that is located close to his personal six-car garage.Fast-forward to the present day, McIlroy and Stoll are believed to be preparing to move to Wentworth, Surrey, just outside London. They will be moving into a newly constructed abode.McIlroy confirmed the news in a recent interview with the Telegraph, stating they expect to move in soon after the US Open in June. He said: "Straight after Augusta, we travelled over to see the house as it was going through the finishing touches.(Image: PGA Tour)"It was fun to see and we could have stayed in it, but we wanted to get over to Holywood." Conveniently, the new property is understood to be within driving distance of the famous Wentworth Golf Club.It will reportedly include a gigantic 44-foot-long party and entertainment room as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and is said to have set them back between £10m and £14m.Stoll has made no secret of her desire to leave the sweltering sun of Florida behind and head to colder climates in the UK. And her husband is now set to grant her wish after calling off their divorce proceedings last year.
