India are currently embroiled in a five-match series against Australia i Australia for the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Team India began the series with a bang, with a comprehensive win at Perth by 295 runs. A lot of credit for the win has to go the fast bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and debutant Harshit Rana, who picked 17 out of the 20 Australian wickets in the match. There were also reports of Mohammed Shami joining in the squad later in the series, and this would have made the pace battery even more formidable. However, that does not look the case as of now.

No Plans For Mohammad Shami To Fly To Australia

According to several reports, Mohammed Shami, who last played for India in the ODI World Cup 2023, was set to travel to Australia and be added to the squad before the third Test of the series at Brisbane. However, according to a report in The Times of India, there has been no conversation around Mohammed Shami flying to Australia at the moment.

“There has been no conversation around trying to send Shami to Australia, at least for now. At the moment, the fast bowlers chosen for the tour and the first XI in the opening Test at Perth are doing their job very well," a source close to the proceedings told the publication.

Mohammed Shami's Dream Return

Mohammed Shami was out for almost a year due to an injury to his ankle. He came back after 360 days for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Madhya Pradesh. He returned in style, as he ran through the Madhya Pradesh batting order . The star fast bowler picked up four crucial wickets. He is currently part of the Bengal squad for the Dyed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, where he picked up a three-wicket haul in the first match.
