Manush Shah, Diya Chitale march into second round

India’s Manush Shah and Diya Chitale progressed to the next round of the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2025 with wins in their respective singles matches in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday.

World No. 88 Diya Chitale eased past Spain’s Sofia-Xuan Zhang 4-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-3, 14-12) in the women’s singles round of 128.

Manush Shah, ranked 72nd in the world, overcame a spirited challenge from Portugal’s Tiago Apolonia (World No. 92) to win 4-2 (11-6, 11-2, 7-11, 6-11, 11-5, 6-11) in the men’s singles.

The Indian table tennis player will face France’s Felix Lebrun, the sixth seed and Paris 2024 Olympics bronze medal winner, in the next round.
