Liverpool and Burnley went head-to-head in a Premier League meeting at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds went into the fixture looking to make it 12 games unbeaten across all competitions.

Liverpool are still in the race for a top-four finish, amid Arne Slot expressing concern about no Champions League football and the impact that would have on the club.

How will Liverpool turn things around if they fail to get Champions League football in 25/26?

Arne Slot expressed concern about missing out on top-tier European football in his pre-Burnley press conference

However, a win over Burnley was predicted and expected, given that the Clarets had won just three league matches all season prior to kick-off at 3pm.

But based on Liverpool’s performances of late, it was not expected to be a hugely entertaining affair.

Liverpool fans react to Milos Kerkez vs Burnley

Liverpool began the fixture on the front foot, enjoying much of the possession in the Burnley half.

One of the main bright sparks in the opening stages was Milos Kerkez, whom fans were quick to lavish with praise during the fixture.

“Kerkez has genuinely been brilliant for a while now, he’s so important to that left side,” one fan wrote.

A second claimed: “Kerkez is getting better and better.”

Another argued: “Kerkez motm already,” while a fourth added: “Kerkez is close to the Bournemouth version now, massively improved over the last 2 months.”

A fifth stated: “Kerkez all of a sudden turned into prime Andy Robertson.”

However, while the Hungarian did get off to a brilliant start against the Clarets, the fact that Cody Gakpo, as he has so often done this season, largely ignored the left-back, did not go unnoticed within the fanbase.

“Gakpo really hates Kerkez”. “Kerkez keeps trying to make this happen on the left as well, but Gakpo refuses to pass it to him”. “Gakpo loves cutting inside without looking at Kerkez running down the wing.”

They were just some of the many comments mentioning how the Dutchman does not find the left-back enough and instead just cuts inside to shoot.

It’s a frustrating trait for Gakpo to have, and it’s not surprising that Kerkez started to come good when Florian Wirtz was playing ahead of him recently, when the Reds’ normal left-winger was injured.

Thankfully, the return of one of Slot’s favoured players doesn’t seem to have had too much of an impact on Kerkez continuing to improve.
