Prolific striker backs Everton to make Ivan Toney transfer move - 'You better believe it'Ivan Toney has been linked with a potential January transfer window move to Everton and former striker Ally McCoist has had his sayIvan Toney would help Everton to “do the hardest thing in football” if he moved to Hill Dickinson Stadium in the January transfer window. That’s the view of Ally McCoist with the England international striker being linked with a switch to the Blues.Various outlets have now reported on the claim with Sky Sports News football correspondent Rob Dorsett claiming Everton are prioritising a new striker in January and one of a different profile to existing frontmen Thierno Barry and Beto.He states that Ivan Toney of Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli and Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United are high up on their list of possible targets if either were to become available, although Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus looks out of reach after Mikel Arteta said he won’t be moving.READ MORE : Everton new stadium to stage five Euro 2028 games - and could host England READ MORE : Jack Grealish hailed for 'incredible work he is doing' as Everton star collects another awardAlthough Barry received a standing ovation from the home fans at Hill Dickinson Stadium for his efforts in the 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday when being substituted 12 minutes from the end, he has still yet to break his scoring duck after making a £27million switch in July having netted 19 times last season – eight for Basel and 11 for Villarreal – while Beto hasn’t found the net since his solitary Premier League strike this term, with a header in the 3-2 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 30.McCoist, who was in the same school year as Everton manager and fellow Scot David Moyes, who started his own playing career with Celtic, was a prolific scorer across Glasgow for Old Firm rivals Rangers, plundering 355 goals in 581 matches, including double figures across 14 separate seasons with two 40-plus goal campaigns, two 30-plus goal campaigns and four 20-goal plus campaigns. But he never to such exploits for granted. Speaking on talkSPORT’s live coverage of ‘Ask Ally’, McCoist was asked by co-host Alan Brazil whether Everton would be queueing up for a move for Toney.Everton News quote him as replying: “Oh, you better believe it. It’s the hardest thing to do, put the ball in the back of the net.“I think it will be a problem coming back; the tax implications, the money, not knowing all the details, that you have to stay out of the country. He’d have to weigh up that situation.“These guys are on fortunes. He probably wouldn’t come back in that period.“If and when the time is right, there will be plenty of clubs. Everton would come into the equation, Tottenham with [Dominic] Solanke struggling to keep fit, there would be no shortage of offers.”For the latest Everton FCnews and breaking news, visit https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/everton-fc.
