Despite US Open disappointment, Ben Shelton shares his love for Trinity Rodman and his other loved ones.

Ben Shelton lost his first Grand Slam final against Alexander Zverev in four sets at the US Open.. The young American came close to making history but could not get over the hump.

His deep tournament run has led to a lot of popularity for Shelton, with his girlfriend Trinity Rodman also getting a lot of love for the way she has supported him from the stands.

And after she showed up for the final despite having just played an NWSL match of her own in Washington D.C. on Sunday, the 23-year-old publicly showed his appreciation.

Ben Shelton says it means everything but laments that Trinity Rodman ‘showed up when I was losing’

Rodman had a Washington Spirit game that started a little over one hour before the final in Washington D.C. She played in a 3-0 loss for her team against the Boston Legacy and then rushed to New York..

Shelton had claimed the third set after he lost the first two. However, as Rodman was reaching to support him, he conceded the break that cost him the fourth set and the match. He spoke about it afterwards.

“It means everything,” Shelton said. “I knew she was coming, I knew it was going to be pretty close to impossible to get here. But even just making the effort, trying is insane.

“She kinda showed up as I was losing, which for her, probably s*****. But yes, we’ve made a lot of sacrifices for each other. We’ve traveled the world to try to support each other when we can.

Do you believe that Alexander Zverev will win Grand Slams in 2027 with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz back?

“It means a lot. Same with my family and friends. So many people showed for me and that’s what this is all about. Being able to share these moments, share these two weeks with my best friends and my family.”

That’s a classy answer from Shelton, who will have been hurting after getting so close to greatness and falling short in the end. The tennis and soccer stars have really become something of a power couple during this US Open run.
