DDCA claims it informed BCCI about DPL corruption approach

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has said that it had informed the BCCI over an corruption approach in the Delhi Premier League (DPL). A top DDCA official also told Cricbuzz that the state association has been in touch with the BCCI since Tehelka published a report on the corruption activity in the DPL and the IPL.

“We have asked the BCCI with regards to this. We will abide by the BCCI advice – what they advise. Any person involved in the anti-corruption activity will not be spared. He or they will be held accountable,” said the official. “The league was overseen by the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit and an anti-corruption official was attached to each team."

The official also confirmed that during the recent season, Vansh Bedi was approached by a player from Uttar Pradesh, and that the approach was immediately reported to the ACSU. Bedi, a 23-year-old Delhi-based wicketkeeper-batter, was picked by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2025 season. He was released after the season and remained unsold at the 2026 auction.

Bedi, however, denied any involvement. "I would like to clarify certain false and defamatory content circulating on social media and websites concerning me. I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia in the Tehelka sting operation concerning alleged match-fixing involving a CSK player, nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity," he said in a social media post.

Earlier, DDCA put out an official statement, saying, “Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter be examined through the appropriate established processes.”

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings said they were going to look into the Tehelka expose which said matches involving the team were fixed in the 2025 season. A CSK official said the franchise's board will discuss measures to be initiated. As reported by Cricbuzz on Tuesday, the CSK board will meet over the next 24 hours ahead of the franchise’s AGM which is scheduled on September 25.

The Tehelka expose has revealed that a CSK player was allegedly providing classified information to a Delhi-based former first-class player, who, in turn, sold the details to London-based bookmakers in exchange for INR 60 lakh for a match in the 2025 season.

The player, who has featured in six first-class matches, told an undercover reporter that he had earned INR 3 crore by selling that information. The report has also quoted that Bhatia had contacts in a DPL team and could provide information on playing XIs before a game.
